A 56-year-old woman from Lakeville was killed in a head-on crash with a truck on a central Minnesota highway Monday afternoon.

The Minnesota State Patrol shut down both directions of Hwy. 55 between Kimball and Watkins after the westbound Harley Davidson motorcyle hit the left front tire of a Dodge Ram truck that was pulling a trailer.

The driver of the motorcycle died at the scene and the driver of the truck was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.

The crash happened around 12:50 p.m. and the highway was closed between the two towns for about three hours.
