A suspect has been killed in an incident involving police in Isanti County Sunday afternoon.
Details of the incident are still emerging, but the early reports state that police were chasing two carjacking suspects on Hwy. 65 near Braham.
Police say police had been called to a report of a theft in Blaine just before 1 p.m., with the suspects fleeing the scene in a vehicle, before allegedly carjacking another.
Their vehicle became disabled on Hwy. 65 and the pair fled on foot, with one of them fatally shot in the ensuing altercation. A K-9 officer from Anoka was also shot, while a Blaine police officer suffered minor injuries from the initial theft call. It's not clear yet how serious the K-9's injuries are.
The other suspect was taken into custody, with police saying a gun was recovered at the scene.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has confirmed it's investigating, with Hwy. 65 closed both directions between MN Hwy. 107 and Andree Drive Northeast.
More details are expected to be released in the coming hours.
