UPDATE MONDAY, 9:30 A.M.
The Anoka County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that the father pulled from Moore Lake on Sunday evening has died.
Leland Morris, 26, of Fridley, died overnight at Hennepin County Medical Center.
The incident remains under investigation.
A dive team was able to recover a man from underwater after a drowning accident in Moore Lake in Fridley.
The Anoka County Sheriff's Office says the incident was reported just before 5:15 p.m. Sunday. It happened when a father attempted to swim out to help two kids get back to shore, as they were struggling to do so on their own while using flotation devices.
While swimming towards the children, the man went under water and didn't resurface. First responders from the Fridley police and fire departments were unable to locate the man, but a dive team from the Anoka County Sheriff's Office Marine Unit arrived to the lake and quickly located him.
He was unresponsive when the divers pulled him from the water. He was then transported to Hennepin County Medical Center where his condition is unknown.
The mother of the children and bystanders were able to help the kids get back to shore.
The Moore Lake incident is the third drowning reported by authorities in Minnesota since Friday.
On Saturday, a 9-year-old boy died in a drowning incident at a swim facility in North Mankato, and on Friday a 12-year-old boy was hospitalized after a drowning incident at a water park in north Minneapolis.
