Firefighters from three departments responded to a blaze at an oil refinery in St. Paul Park Sunday.

KARE-11 says no injuries were reported in the fire, which was contained inside the building.

The Star Tribune reports the blaze was in the crude oil processing unit and was under control less than three hours after authorities were notified about 11:30 a.m. The cause is under investigation.

The St. Paul Park Refining Co. was formerly known as the Marathon Oil refinery. Since its sale three years ago, it's been owned by Northern Tier Energy and supplies gasoline mainly to Super America convenience stores.

About 74,000 barrels of oil per day are produced by the refinery. As Bloomberg reported earlier this month, it's one of several North American refineries that will be shuttered for maintenance or repairs in October.

Northern Tier announced plans for the October shutdown as part of last month's earnings report, which showed that profits plummeted in the second quarter. That led to a downgrade from Bank of America.

An energy analyst appearing on the investment show The Motley Fool last week said Northern Tier's reliance on a single refinery is one of the factors hurting the company's performance.
