Fire at trailer court Thursday morning kills Brainerd man

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

One person died early Thursday when a mobile home caught fire in Brainerd.

According to Brainerd Fire Department, the fire was reported just after 5 a.m. in the Westwood trailer court in the 500 block of NW 7th St.

Brainerd Fire Chief Tim Holmes told the Brainerd Dispatch that the smoke and heat made it difficult to immediately go in and get the man. Once they got him out of the home, paramedics attempted lifesaving efforts but the man died at the scene.

The victim's identity has not been released and the State Fire Marshal is investigating to determine the cause of the fire.
