General Manager Bobbi Fuhr told KNUJ that a customer noticed smoke outside the building as he was coming in. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
After the evacuation of about 100 people, it took nearly 35 firefighters to battle the blaze, reported KEYC.
The building was in the middle of being remodeled, and the fire leaves its future in doubt, said the Mankato Free Press.
The outlet also reported that the fire is another loss for the town that recently experienced the closing of businesses like a Target and a local breakfast joint.
