Mendakota Country Club fire

A fire early Friday morning burned down a portion of Mendakota Country Club in Mendota Heights.

The fire started around 4:30 a.m., with firefighters reporting flames shooting through the roof of the storage building, which is adjacent to the clubhouse.

The storage facility was completely destroyed but a fire wall kept the clubhouse from sustaining critical damage.

Smoke and water damage will keep the clubhouse closed until further notice, however.

Adam Johnston was at the scene of the fire and snapped some photos of the damage.

The country club was renovated in 2008 and is known as a premiere banquet hall and wedding venue, in addition being the centerpiece of the championship golf course.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
