Fire destroys sushi and steak restaurant in Albertville

The fire was reported around 11 p.m. Thursday.

A sushi and steak restaurant in Albertville has been badly damaged in a fire. 

The fire was reported at 11:05 p.m. and multiple crews responded to the building housing Hana Sushi Steak House & Asian Cuisine, located at 6730 Laketowne Place NE, near the Albertville Premium Outlet Mall. 

"Upon arrival, heavy smoke was seen coming from the structure," Albertville Fire Chief Eric Bullen said in a release. "Crews attempted two interior attacks that were unsuccessful. The crews were pulled out and defensive operations commenced."

No one was injured in the blaze but the building was extensively damaged.

Fire departments from St. Michael, Hanover, Monticello and Rogers all assisted on the call. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal Division. 

According to the restaurant's Facebook page, it had closed on Tuesday for a remodeling project.
