Firefighters battle blaze at Northeast Minneapolis liquor store, deli

The fire reported Tuesday morning is on University Avenue Northeast.

Fire crews in Minneapolis have been battling a blaze at a commercial building that houses a liquor store and deli.

Minneapolis Fire Department confirmed at 8:45 a.m. it was at the scene of a fire on the 2200 block of University Avenue Northeast.

The affected building is home to B&G Wine and Liquor and Sunny's Market and Deli.

It became a two-alarm fire just after 9 a.m., with those inside the building evacuated by crews, which doused the fire from outside.

At 9:46 a.m. the fire department tweeted that the bulk of the fire had been extinguished from the outside, and firefighters were heading inside to check for hot spots and any areas it may have spread.

The fire was under control as of 1 p.m., with no injuries reported. One firefighter was treated and released for a minor injury.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation by authorities.
