Firefighters found one person dead after knocking down a fire at a two-story apartment in Duluth on Sunday.
The fire was reported at 12:58 p.m. at 631 E. 3rd St., with firefighters arriving at the scene to find a fire in a bedroom of a first-floor apartment, according to the Duluth Fire Department.
The blaze was quickly extinguished, and during a search of the apartment the body of a deceased person was found. The victim's identity and cause of death have not been released.
Firefighters were able to rescue an uninjured dog that was inside the apartment. The pet has been taken in by a neighboring resident, according to the fire department.
