Fireworks explodes in person's hand, resulting in loss of thumb and finger

It happened July 4 in Fargo, during a busy period for the city's fire department.

A person in Fargo lost a thumb and finger when fireworks exploded in their hand Sunday.

The Fargo Fire Department said the July 4 incident was one of the more serious situations from a busy holiday. Firefighters there responded to a dozen fireworks-related blazes on Independence Day, including:

  • Two grass fires
  • Three dumpster fires
  • One wood chip fire
  • Nine structure fires

The fire department did not provide more details on the individual who lost a thumb and finger to fireworks, though in other social media posts the department reminded people that fireworks within city limits is illegal.
