Five charged after Faribault man was hogtied and beaten at gunpoint
Five men have been charged accused of kidnapping and "hog-tying" a man from Faribault before assaulting him.
Faribault Police Department has announced Thursday that a 24-year-old man was subjected to a 90-minute beating after he was kidnapped from his car on Saturday, May 23.
The victim was driving through Oak Grove Cemetery when he was chased by two other vehicles, and was told to stop after one of the occupants pointed a gun at him, the Faribault Daily News reports.
The suspects grabbed him from his vehicle and took him to a house in Faribault where they "hogtied" him before assaulting him.
The newspaper adds that the victim also said that his attackers had a gun to his head during the attack, in which they kicked him in the mouth and "bashed him" in the back of the head.
The victim was then taken to a second house, where they released him and he was found by a "concerned citizen" who brought him to District One Hospital.
Police executed two search warrants at properties on Tuesday, recovering "numerous items of evidence" including blood and items belonging to the victim.
Five people have been arrested and have all been charged with kidnapping, 3rd degree assault and 1st degree aggravated robbery. They are:
- John Paul Thompson, 40
- Ashley Kay Juelfs, 26
- Pedro Lee Padilla, 42
- Jacob Daniel Glende, 25
- Jason Ervin Madow, 35.
Faribault Police chief Andy Bohlen said: "This kind of violent crime has no place in our community. Our officers, detectives and agents worked very diligently to identify the suspects and get them into custody. The victim and suspects knew each other, and we have no reason to believe this was a random crime."
