Man pleads guilty to shooting at sister's boyfriend during Fond du Lac funeral
The 28-year-old man who shot his sister's boyfriend during his grandmother's funeral last year in October has pleaded guilty.
On Wednesday in U.S. District Court, Shelby Gene Boswell entered the guilty plea for illegally possessing and discharging a firearm in a school zone.
During the October 2019 incident, police and tribal officials responded to reports of shots fired at the Fond du Lac Head Start building gymnasium in northern Minnesota.
When officers arrived, witnesses told them that Boswell shot at his sister's boyfriend's head with a rifle, during the funeral for the grandmother of Boswell and his sister.
The funeral attendees had detained him until authorities arrived.
Because Boswell had prior felony convictions in other counties and in U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, he was already prohibited from possessing firearms at the time.
A sentencing date for Boswell has not yet been set.
