Forget about April: Just in time for May, spring has arrived in Minnesota.

The Pioneer Press reports that the temperatures in the Twin Cities topped 70 degrees Friday for the first time since Oct. 21, when the high was 70 degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, the afternoon high at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 72 degrees at 5:09 p.m., a mark 9 degrees above average.

Lucky for Minnesotans, more 70-degree-plus temps are on the way for the weekend.

WCCO is predicting highs of 72 and 73 for Saturday and Sunday, as does the Star Tribune.

KARE is forecasting highs of 72 and 75 for Saturday and Sunday, while KSTP is calling for high temps of 73 and 75.

KMSP is the most optimistic with projected highs of 75 and 76 for Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

The spring weather comes after a unusually winter-like April in the state with 17.9 inches of snow, the Pioneer Press says.
