Forest Lake police officer killed in UTV crash in Wisconsin

The police sergeant died in a crash this past weekend.

A fatal UTV crash in Wisconsin last weekend involved a member of the Forest Lake Police Department in Minnesota.

Forest Lake PD announced Monday that Sgt. Kurt Kowarsch "died from a crash while operating a UTV while visiting his cabin and property in Wisconsin over the weekend."

Details of the fatal crash have not been provided, including information about where it happened.

"Kurt has served the City of Forest Lake for 14 years. Prior to working at Forest Lake, Kurt was employed by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Annandale Police Department," Forest Lake PD said.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. No further information is available at this time."
