Former Minnesota mayor accused of buying meth
Police say the former mayor of Mantorville in southeast Minnesota is accused of buying methamphetamine, the Rochester Post-Bulletin reports.
Luke Nash, 48, also a former Dodge County Sheriff's Office deputy and former city councilman in the 1,200-population town, was arraigned on a controlled substance charge and released in lieu of bond, the newspaper reports.
Police say that earlier this month a confidential informant tipped the Kasson Police Department that Nash wanted to buy the drug, the Post-Bulletin reports. The buy was arranged, and police say they arrested Nash after the informant sold him 1.7 grams of meth for $125 on March 15.
A Community News report last fall said Nash, who grew up in Red Wing, and his wife are longtime Mantorville residents with two teenagers. "My life is public service – in the military, as a cop, in church, in elected roles and in law enforcement," he said in the profile. "I've always been in public service, mostly public safety. I hope that is a good example for my kids."
Nash lost his mayoral re-election bid in November to Chuck Bradford.
