Former Mrs. America found guilty of making thousands of dollars of fake returns to Macy's

She'd switch the price tags on clothes and return them for more money.

Former Mrs. America has been found guilty of switching price tags on clothes she bought from Macy's and returning them for more money.

Jennifer Kline, 51, of Wayzata, was crowned Mrs. America in 1989 and was also a host on ShopNBC/EVINE Live.

She was charged in 2016, accused of buying a bunch of expensive clothes at Macy's, take the price tags from those clothes and attach them to clothing she already owned. Then she'd return the old clothes to a different Macy's for a refund on her credit card.

“This little scheme of Ms. Kline’s was wrong and it was clearly driven by greed. The jurors were not fooled by attempts to blame Macy’s and their liberal return policy for her criminal conduct," Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said in a statement.

On Tuesday, a jury found her guilty of theft by swindle, a felony, in fewer than three hours, a news release says. The jury determined the amount she swindled was more than $1,000, but less than $5,000.

She'll be sentenced on Oct. 18.
