The Duluth News Tribune reports that a former Salvation Army youth coach has pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting two young boys.

The paper says Peter Jay Olson, 47, entered the not guilty plea Friday in State District Court in Duluth.

He faces eight felony charges: three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, two counts of using a minor in a sexual performance, second-degree criminal sexual conduct, possessing pictorial representation of minors and possessing pornographic work involving minors.

The incidents occurred between 2005 to 2011 when Olson coached both of the boys in the Lake Park Little League in eastern Duluth.

According to the Salvation Army, Olson was a coach from 1988 until he was terminated from the position in November.

WDIO - TV reports Olson was originally charged with four felonies in June for assaulting one boy, but prosecutors added four additional charges last month when a second alleged victim came forward.

The case is one of two ongoing criminal proceedings that involve former Salvation Army youth coaches, the Duluth News Tribune reports.

In an unrelated case, Wendell Anthony Greene, 37, is charged with sexually assaulting two preteen girls. That case is scheduled to go to a jury trial next week.
