Foster child missing from Brooklyn Park found with biological mom

A 12-year-old boy who ran away from his foster home was found three weeks later with his biological mother.

Brooklyn Park PD says Izaich Mardis was found along with his mom – who had lost legal custody of her son at a previous court hearing – around 2:30 p.m.

Police made the discovery after executing a search warrant at a home on the 7900 block of Lee Avenue.

"The juvenile was unharmed and has been placed into protective custody," said police spokesman Mark Bruley.

Mardis had been reported missing last Wednesday, having not been seen since running from his foster home on May 2.

The biological mother meanwhile has been arrested for deprivation of parental rights and obstruction of justice.

She is being held at Brooklyn Park Jail.
