A woman from Fridley was killed Sunday when her motorcycle left the road and struck a utility pole.

The incident was reported at 3:23 p.m. on County Road 40 near 188th Street in San Francisco Township.

Deputies arrived at the scene and found 48-year-old Laura Loge had suffered "traumatic injuries" in the crash.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation determined she had been traveling south on County Road 40 "when she lost control of the motorcycle," according to the Carver County Sheriff's Office.

"According to a witness, Loge ran off the road after encountering rocks and gravel off the road edge," it added. "Loge traveled down a ditch embankment and struck a wooden power line utility pole."

The crash is still under investigation.
