It's been quite a few years for Bergen Olson.

Since leaving his tiny hometown of Danvers, Minnesota (population of 97), he's worked for Google, moved to a start-up in Silicon Valley and will now be watched by millions as he travels the world while taking part in CBS' show "The Amazing Race."

The 24-year-old will be fighting for a $1 million top prize as he and his partner solve clues in eight different countries, including Thailand, Namibia and Monaco, the West Central Tribune reports.

Olson will be part of a twist for the 26th season of the show.

Normally, established duos compete against one another, and six couples will be taking part this year. But also competing are five teams who met as "blind dates" – that includes Olson, whose partner will be Kurt Belcher, from Kentucky.

In a profile piece with CBS, Olson describes himself as "energetic, driven and empathetic," and stays true to his Minnesotan roots by saying the place he would most like to visit in the world is his namesake, Bergen, in Norway.

He graduated from Benson High School in 2009 before studying business administration at North Dakota State University, graduating in 2013 and immediately making an impression in California.

You can see how he gets on at 8:30 p.m. next Wednesday on CBS. The Demarce Theater in downtown Benson will also be hosting a special season premiere event.
