Fund set up to help pay medical bills of girl who was shot in the head
Family of the 2-year-old girl who was shot in the head early Monday have set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for her medical expenses.
The girl, identified as Chastity Yulia Vang, was “gravely wounded” and is suffering from “life-threatening injuries” at Regions Hospital, St. Paul police said in a statement Monday afternoon.
The fundraising page set up by Chastity's aunt on Tuesday said she's still in "critical condition fighting for her life in the ICU," noting Chastity is "a beautiful, cheerful and full of energy little girl."
The fund aims to raise $5,000 money to help pay for medical bills. As of Wednesday morning, the page had already raised more than $4,000.
More on the shooting
Chastity was one of three people shot around 12:10 a.m. Monday in St. Paul's North End. The other two, both adult men, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The police department said Monday there is likely a connection between one of the victims and the shooter (or shooters), though it’s unclear exactly what it is. Police have brought witnesses in for interviews, but describe some as “uncooperative.”
In an update on Tuesday, police said no arrests have been made and the investigation is still ongoing.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Saint Paul Police Department Homicide Unit at 651-266-5650.
