Girl, 6, killed in snowmobile crash in northern Minnesota
A six-year-old girl has died after a snowmobile crash in her yard in northern Minnesota.
The Cass County Sheriff's Office says the tragic incident happened Monday afternoon at a residence in Federal Dam.
Per police, a 35-year-old woman and the 6-year-old were on a 2004 Ski-Doo snowmobile in the yard of their home when it struck a stump.
This launched the vehicle down an embankment to Leech Lake, before it struck a tree.
CPR and lifesaving efforts were performed at the scene on the girl, but she was pronounced dead.
The woman was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital in Bemidji for further treatment.
