Girl riding her bike hit by semi-truck in Lake Elmo

A 14-year-old girl suffered non-life-threatening injuries when she was hit by a semi-truck while riding her bike in Lake Elmo on Monday morning. 

The Washington County Sheriff's Office reports that the accident happened just after 9:20 am. on 50th Street North at Lake Elmo Avenue. Authorities say the girl was going west on 50th when she was hit by a semi-truck going north on Lake Elmo Avenue. 

The crash sent the bicycle and the semi into the ditch, with one of the girl's legs trapped underneath one of the semi's tires. First responders were able to free her leg and get to her the hospital. The extent of her injuries are unknown but they were not considered life-threatening.  

The sheriff's office and Minnesota State Patrol are investigating the accident.
