Fundraiser launched to save business of restaurant owner shot in robbery attempt

57-year-old Penn Lake Roast Beef owner Kevan Tran has two gunshot injuries

A GoFundMe has been launched for the business owner shot during a robbery attempt Tuesday evening

Kevan Tran, 57, owns Penn Lake Roast Beef in Bloomington. He was at his business when someone attempted to rob his shop, shooting him in the abdomen and hand, police said.

"Kevan has never been away from his restaurant for a long period. He lives & breathes Penn Lake Roast Beef, rocking his signature black hat with his grease stained t-shirt," his niece, Jackie Quach, wrote in the GoFundMe.

After working for 25 years at Wally's Roast Beef in Bloomington, she added, he "ventured out to pursue his dream, Penn Lake Roast Beef. It quickly became a local spot to go for lunch and dinner."

Close to $8,000 has been raised, which will go towards Tran's medical expenses and the restaurant's overhead costs in the meantime.

Tran is listed as in stable condition at the Hennepin County Medical Center. An arrest has not yet been made.
