A worker at the Golden Valley Menards was killed in a forklift accident Thursday.
Police were called to the store at 6800 Wayzata Blvd. around 10:05 a.m., when a 911 caller said the male employee was unconscious and pinned under a forklift, the Golden Valley Police Department said.
Officers determined a pallet of lumber had fallen on the forklift as the victim was operating it, killing him.
In a statement shared by reporter Mary McGuire, the store said its employees were "in shock" and offered thoughts and prayers to the man's family.
Police are not identifying the man killed, and said the Hennepin County Medical Examiner will notify the family. The Minnesota Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified, the department added.
"The Golden Valley Police and Fire Departments send our sincere condolences to the family and his coworkers," the release concluded.
