Good news for morning commuters: Eastbound I-394 is open

Some good news for commuters Monday morning: Interstate 394 into downtown Minneapolis has reopened, and the reversible carpool lanes are back to normal.

The eastbound lanes have been closed for two weeks and traffic was shifted to the reversible lanes, but by 5 a.m. Monday the Interstate between Highway 100 and Interstate 94 had reopened.

But the roadwork isn't quite complete. Crews will continue to work to make the road smoother and quieter, so motorists should expect overnight lane closures and delays on both eastbound and westbound I-394 between Highway 100 and I-94 through October, the Minnesota Department of Transportation says.

The reversible lanes on I-394 will also see a closure this weekend. After peak drive times on Aug. 21, they'll close for repairs and reopen by Monday Aug. 24, MnDOT notes.

Meanwhile, Lyndale Avenue over Dunwoody Boulevard/Hennepin Avenue will remain closed until the fall.

Another MnDOT project also wrapped up over the weekend. The Snelling Avenue bridge over Interstate 94 reopened Friday night, a week ahead of schedule.

A handful of other major roads that were closed over the weekend have since reopened for the morning commute.

Another ramp closure on Highway 100

But it's not all smooth sailing in the west metro. Another ramp on Highway 100 is closing starting Monday.

The ramp from Highway 100 southbound to Highway 7 in St. Louis Park will close until fall 2016, MnDOT says. Crews will then switch traffic to the northbound side of Highway 100, KSTP notes.

However, the northbound Highway 100 ramp to eastbound I-394 has reopened, MnDOT notes.
