Two vehicles – a mid-sized pickup truck and a crossover SUV – got in a head-on crash on Viking Boulevard Northeast near Linwood Township around 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, killing both drivers, an Anoka County news release says.
The crash caused the truck to start on fire, and Thomas Rush, 35 – who got out of his vehicle to help – discovered a small child in the backseat of the burning vehicle.
And before flames engulfed the entire truck, the good Samaritan rescued the child, who was relatively uninjured in the crash, the county says.

The incident remains under investigation, but the release says early indications show the driver of the pickup truck – a 73-year-old woman from Columbus, Minnesota – drifted over the center lane into the path of the oncoming SUV, driven by a 64-year-old man from Mound.
