USA Hockey named former Gopher hockey standout Robb Stauber as the coach of the women's hockey team for the 2018 Olympic Games in South Korea on Monday.
Stauber recently guided the women's national team to a gold medal at the IIHF Women’s World Championship earlier this year.
He's been involved with USA Hockey since 2010. He served as an assistant coach during 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
A native of Duluth and former standout at the University of Minnesota, Satuber was the first goaltender to win the Hobey Baker Award in 1988. He still holds program single-season records for games played and saves.
The Minnesota native also played 10 seasons in the NHL, which included stints with Kings and Sabers.
He returned to the U of M in 2000 and was the team's goalie coach until 2008, helping the Gophers to national championships in 2002 and 2003.
