Police are looking to catch those responsible for the vandalism of multiple vehicles in Grand Marais over the past few days.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office says there have been several instances of vehicles being marked with the tag "5 — D" with multiple lines either under or near the marking.

One of the vehicles also had its tires slashed.

There is little information about the suspect(s), other than than they tend to strike in the evening.

Police say the "5 – D" tag is in reference to drug use.

“This senseless activity has caused a significant amount of damage for several community members," said Sheriff Pat Eliasen.

"Anyone who has any information on these accounts of criminal damage to property, should contact the Sheriff’s Office. We have assigned an investigator this case and will enforce the juvenile curfew if necessary."

Grand Marais has a juvenile curfew that states children aged 16 and under must be off the streets by 10:30 p.m. unless they're accompanied by an adult. The curfew is midnight for 17-year-olds.
