Grandmother fatally shot in St. Paul was victim of gang violence, son says
A woman who was fatally shot while watching her grandchildren Wednesday evening in St. Paul has been identified as 61-year-old Teresa A. Bearribs
Her son, Timothy Bearribs, launched a GoFundMe in his mother's name to help cover funeral expenses. Timothy wrote that his mother, who "was a kind loving mother and grandmother," was a victim of gang violence.
A spokesperson for St. Paul PD tells Bring Me The News that investigators have not yet confirmed a motive for the crime.
According to police, a 911 caller reported the shooting around 8:45 p.m. on the 1100 block of Bush Ave. on the city's East Side. Officers arrived at the scene and found a Bearribs lying in the backyard.
She'd suffered an apparent gunshot wound was unconscious and not breathing. Medical aid was provided but she died at the scene.
The Star Tribune reported that she was at the home watching three of her grandchildren, ages 3, 4 and 5, when she was fatally shot.
"She was friendly to all people," her son wrote, "she will be missed dearly."
The online fundraiser, as of Friday afternoon, had raised approximately $1,500 of a $9,000 goal.
No arrests have been made and police and homicide detectives continue to investigate.
