Green Line train hits, kills pedestrian in St. Paul

A person was killed when he was struck by a light rail train in St. Paul on Monday afternoon. 

A Metro Transit spokesperson says two men appeared to try to cross the tracks before the train crossed at Syndicate and University Avenue. One man made it across but the other was hit. He was transported to Regions Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Green Line train was headed westbound when the accident happened at approximately 4:30 p.m. 

The identity of the victim has not been released.
