Six hours of bloodshed marred another night in Minneapolis as six separate shootings resulted in one death and eight injuries.
Minneapolis Police Department says it responded to the shootings between 6:53 p.m. Thursday and 12:34 a.m. Friday, with the gunshots coming in all different areas of the city.
One shooting claimed the life of a young man while a pregnant woman was critically wounded in the same blaze of bullets. Violent nights have become a trend in Minneapolis since the fatal arrest of George Floyd on Memorial Day.
There have now been 32 homicides in Minneapolis this year, just seven shy of last year's total, while the Star Tribune reports that at least 243 have been shot in the city this year, which is just 26 fewer than where shot all of last year.
6:53 p.m. - Teen shot in north Minneapolis
Police found a 17-year-old victim at the intersection of 25th and Lyndale avenues in the Hawthorne neighborhood. He was transported by ambulance to North Memorial Medical Center with a non-critical gunshot wound. Police say there is little information about what led to the shooting.
8:28 p.m. - 2 shot at East Phillips Park
Two people suffered non-life-threatening wounds in a shooting at East Phillips Park, located on the west side of Cedar Ave. at 24th St. It's the same location where a woman was shot the day prior. Park Police are investigating.
9:32 p.m. - Man shot twice in the Hawthorne neighborhood
A report of a shooting drew a response from police, who on arrival at the scene of 21st Ave. and 6th St. in north Minneapolis found a man in his 40s who'd been shot twice. The man was taken by ambulance to an area hospital and is expected to survive.
12:01 a.m. - Drive-by shooting in south Minneapolis
A male victim told police that he was driving in the area of East 29th St. and Park Ave. in south Minneapolis' Phillips West neighborhood when "someone drove up next to him and started shooting at him." Police spoke to the victim at Hennepin County Medical Center, where he was treated for non-critical wounds.
12:05 a.m. - Shooting at George Floyd memorial site
The gunfire at 38th and Chicago in south Minneapolis resulted in a man in his 20s suffering a non-critical gunshot wound. As first responders were treating the man, another man arrived at Abbott Northwestern Hospital with a non-critical gunshot wound that police say is connected to the same shooting.
12:34 a.m. - Man dead, woman critically wounded in N. Mpls.
This was the third shooting of the night in the Hawthorne neighborhood, this time happening on the 2900 bloc of 6th St. Police arrived at the scene to find a man in his mid-20s dead at the scene.
A woman was also shot and transported to an area hospital in critical condition. The Star Tribune reports that the woman is pregnant.
An investigation is ongoing and no further information is available.
