Police say they have arrested a "predatory offender" who had been on the run for weeks in Minnesota.

Derrick Hoff, 35, of Harris, Minnesota, was taken into custody by the East Central Drug and Violent Offenders Task Force (ECDVOTF) with the aid of the Chisago, Pine, and Aitkin county sheriff's offices on Tuesday.

Hoff had "been on the run for weeks" before police caught up to him in Aitkin.

He was wanted for failing to register as a predatory offender in Pine County, and was also wanted in Chisago County for charges including assault, firearms violations and controlled substances.

He was found following the execution of a search warrant, which also found him in possession of a "large amount" of drugs, as well as several guns, and cash.
