Harley rider dies after being ejected from motorcycle in Maplewood

The crash happened on Hwy. 61 near County Road B.

A motorcyclist died in a crash in Maplewood just after 4:45 p.m. Saturday. 

The Minnesota State Patrol crash report says Donald Raymond Nordquist, 68, of St. Paul, was riding a 2006 Harley Davidson south on Hwy. 61 when he approached traffic that was stopped at a red light at County Road B. 

As Nordquist braked, he lost control and was ejected from the motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The crash report notes that Nordquist was not wearing a helmet. 

A separate crash involving Harley riders happened just after 7:30 p.m. Saturday on Hwy. 65 in East Bethel. According to the State Patrol, two Harley riders collides, resulting a man and woman on one motorcycle to suffer non-life-threatening injuries. 

A 45-year-old Coon Rapids man riding the other Harley suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to HCMC. 

None of the three riders was wearing a helmet.
