No sooner has September started that the countdown to Christmas is underway, at least in department stores.

Less than 24 hours after its big rival Walmart revealed it's predictions for the most in-demand toys for the holidays, Target published its own list.

Target's 2017 Top Toys List features more than 25 of the "season's hottest trends," of which 11 are (of course) exclusive to Target.

Unsurprisingly given the release of The Last Jedi a week before Christmas, there are plenty of Star Wars toys featured, including a Star Wars Force Link BB-8 Mega Playset (pictured above). That retails at a hefty $199.99, though as of Wednesday has $20 off on Target.com.

A BB-8 Lego set is also expected to sell well, which will set you back $99.99.

Following a successful launch and continued demand, the Nintendo Switch console makes the list of the most sought-after items, and one of the priciest at $299.99.

Winning the "toy most likely to turn against you award" is the Meccano Erector M.A.X. Robotic Interactive Toy with Artificial Intelligence.

For $149.99, the toy allows kids to give their robot its own personality, and experience "intellectual stimulation" drawing on the robot's "knowledge of science, technology, engineering and math."

For younger kids, one of last year's favorites, Hatchimals, make a return with the $69.99 Hatchimals Surprise – a Target exclusive.

And while kids' toys have gotten increasingly tech-heavy over the years, there is still plenty of room for the classics, with Lego, Hot Wheels and Barbie among the toys also featured in Target's 25.

You can find the full list here.
