A man is in custody following a dramatic police pursuit through multiple jurisdictions in the Twin Cities suburbs.
It began in the city of St. Francis at about 9:47 a.m. Saturday, when a local police officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. Instead of pulling over, a release from the Anoka County sheriff says, the vehicle fled.
During the ensuing chase — which soon drew officers from multiple agencies — the suspect fired a gun at law enforcement "multiple times," according to the release.
Eventually, the suspect's vehicle crashed near 245th Ave and 101st St NW in Lavonia Township, Sherburne County. Authorities say the driver shot at law enforcement again, and that Anoka County deputies returned fire.
He later exited the car and was arrested "without incident" before being taken to the hospital for minor injuries. None of the officers or deputies involved was injured.
As the incident involved officers firing their weapons, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension will be investigating the case.
No other details about the suspect or the chase have been released yet.
