Highway 8 reopens after bad crash late Sunday night

Two vehicles appear to have been totaled in the wreck.

A violent crash near Hwy. 8 and East Viking Boulevard in Wyoming shut down the highway for a short time late Sunday night. 

According to Wyoming Police Department, they responded to what appears to be a two-vehicle crash near the east-central Minnesota city around 10 p.m. Photos from the crash scene show two vehicles completely totaled, one on the back of a flatbed truck and the other in the ditch. 

Police referred to it as an injury crash but details beyond that are unknown. 

The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating the crash.  

Fatal crash near Grand Rapids

One person was killed when he was struck by a car on Hwy. 200 in Jacobson Township, about 25 miles southeast of Grand Rapids. 

The crash happened around 7:45 p.m. Sunday when two men in a 2016 Chevy Cruze hit an animal. They stopped on the side of eastbound Hwy. 200 and got out to inspect damage to their vehicle when a 55-year-old woman from Hibbing driving a 2016 Chrysler 200 hit the passenger on the side of the road, killing him. 

The victim has only been identified as a 61-year-old man from Floodwood, Minnesota.
