Two hikers in Lilydale Regional Park in St. Paul discovered a man on fire Monday night, the Pioneer Press reports.

"The flames were 4 to 5 feet high. I wish I'd never seen that," one of the hikers said of the man, who the hikers discovered in a remote area of the park below Sibley Memorial Highway, near the Annapolis Street intersection, the newspaper reported.

The hikers also saw a 10-foot swath of grass and leaves burning beside him, the Pioneer Press reported.

One hikers called 911. One of them put a coat, soaked from a nearby waterfall, over the man's body, but by then, he did not appear to be breathing, the hikers told the newspaper.

The hikers said they saw a large container of lighter fluid and a clear bottle of an unidentified liquid about 75 feet from the body, the Pioneer Press reports. St. Paul police continue to investigate.
