The Cafesjian's Carousel, which was rescued from auction in 1988, will open its 14th season at Como Park in St. Paul on May 1, the Associated Press reports.

The AP says the historic 68-horse carousel was at the Minnesota State Fair for seven and a half decades. It also spent a brief stint in downtown St. Paul before it moved to Como Park in 2000.

The antique merry-go-round has been completely restored to its original 1914 appearance, according to the Associated Press.
