An 18-year-old pedestrian suffered severe injuries after being struck by a hit-and-run driver near Paul Bunyan Park.
The victim, who police have not publicly identified, was on the 400 block of Paul Bunyan Drive South around 4:19 a.m. Tuesday when he was hit by a driver, according to the Bemidji Police Department.
First responders arrived to find the 18-year-old on the ground and "severely injured." He was taken to Sanford Medical Center-Bemidji and reportedly is in stable condition.
While responding, officers saw a vehicle traveling north near the site of the crash and pulled over the driver near 15th Street NW and Norton Avenue. Police said they found evidence on the car that suggested it had been involved in a crash with a pedestrian.
Officers arrested the driver, an 18-year-old from Northome, in connection with the crash, and police say they suspect alcohol was a factor.
