Authorities made lifesaving medical efforts after finding a man with injuries at the scene of a house explosion in southeast Minnesota on Friday morning.
Fillmore County Sheriff John DeGeorge reports that a house explosion was reported at 6:29 a.m. at a residence in Bloomfield Township, with deputies and multiple members of nearby fire departments arriving at the scene to find the home fully engulfed in flames.
DeGeorge said no one appeared to be home at the time of the explosion, though a person was found on the property "some distance from the home with what are believed to be self-inflicted injuries."
Lifesaving medical efforts were immediately provided and the individual was transported by Mayo 1 to St. Marys Hospital at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
The individual's condition is currently unknown.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
