Horse found dead after being shot in the head in southeast Minnesota
Police in Wabasha County are investigating after a horse was found shot dead at a rural address.
The sheriff's office says that deputies were called to the home in rural Mazeppa at 1:30 p.m. last Thursday, April 9, after the horse was found dead from a single gunshot wound to the head.
The call came in from a person who was caring for the horse on behalf of the owners, with the animal checked on the previous evening, when it was still alive.
The caller arrived the next day to find the horse dead in a field.
The Wabasha County Sheriff's Office is looking for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
