There is some positive news to report on the recovery of one of the five children who was trapped in a vehicle that was submerged in a St. Louis Park holding pond for up to 45 minutes.

KARE 11 reports that the attorney for the mother of 5-year-old Amani Coleman-Guerrido says the boy was released from the Hennepin County Medical Center on Monday and is at home.

Rick Petry also told KARE 11 the other two children who remain hospitalized, 1-year-old Aliyana Rennie and 6-year old Zarihana Rennie, are also progressing well.

The children were trapped in the 1998 Pontiac Grand Am after the vehicle became submerged in the pond near the on-ramp at the intersection of Hwy. 100 and Hwy. 7 on Nov. 21.

Two other children, Zanavia Rennie, 5, and Alarious Coleman-Guerrido, 7, died shortly after they were removed from the vehicle.

Marion Guerrido, the mother of three of the children, was behind the wheel. She was able to escape the car without injury.

The State Patrol has said that Guerrido was driving the car without a valid Minnesota driver's license. A preliminary investigation of the accident cites driver overcorrection as a partial cause of the accident, according to authorities.

It is uncertain if Marion Guerrido will face charges from the incident.

Also the Star Tribune reports that the web fund that has been established to help the family pay for funeral and medical costs has been temporarily suspended. Petry said he is working with the people affected by the accident to put a written agreement in place regarding how the funds will be distributed.

"We have an agreement in principle and I'm working on the written agreement," Petry told the Star Tribune. "I hope to have it finished and signed off by everyone in the next day or so.

The fund has helped to raise nearly $20,000 in donations within the first two weeks.
