Twin Cities hospitals on Tuesday treated dozens of people after spills on icy sidewalks and streets, Fox 9 reported. Hennepin County Medical Center treated a half-dozen slip-and-fall patients Tuesday morning, and United Hospital in St. Paul had 11 ice-related injuries, Fox 9 reported.

Hennepin Emergency Services, which handles 911 calls, said nearly half of the 90 calls it responded to Tuesday involved falls, the Star Tribune reports.

Metro residents woke to slick streets and driveways when it dipped just below freezing overnight, following Sunday snow and Monday melting.

City officials remind homeowners that it's the law to remove snow and ice from sidewalks. Here's more info on sidewalk snow and ice rules for Minneapolis (where residents can get free sand) and St. Paul.

The Twin Cities forecast calls for temperatures hovering around 32 much of the day, then plunging to 10 by Wednesday morning and dropping further to a low of -12 on Friday, WCCO says. Bemidji could hit -22, with Duluth dropping to -14 Thursday into Friday morning, the National Weather Service says.

There's not much snow in the forecast for the next few days, although the southeastern corner of the state could get some Tuesday night into Wednesday, local forecasters said.
