House explosion kills 1, injures 1 in southwest Minnesota
A man was killed and a woman injured in an explosion at a house in southwest Minnesota on Thursday morning.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office reports that the home exploded at approximately 6:37 a.m., approximately two miles east of Marshall near Hwy. 19.
Fire and paramedics responded to the scene on the 2800 block of Hwy. 19, where a man was pronounced dead at the scene and a woman was transported to the Marshall Avera emergency room with unknown injuries. Her current condition is not known.
"It was a large explosion that was felt throughout the community. The radio station shook. We're about two miles away," said Aaron Ziemer of KMHL Broadcasting in Marshall.
The cause of the explosion is being investigated. Identities of the victims have not been released.
