Human remains of a Caucasian adult were discovered in Northeast Minneapolis Thursday morning.
According to Minneapolis police spokesperson John Elder, the "human body parts" were found around 9:20 a.m. in the area of Northeast Main Street and Third Avenue Northeast. Elder described the findings as "disturbing," adding that the case is now being investigated as a homicide.
"The body parts that were found would lead us to believe that the injuries caused by the removal would not be life-sustaining. These would be life-ending injuries," said Elder.
The individual will be identified by the medical examiner at a later stage.
Police are filtering through missing persons reports to find out if there is any possible connection.
