The person whose remains were found in a burned car in Goodhue County on New Year's Eve has been identified as a 36-year-old Dodge Center man.
The Goodhue County Sheriff's Office said Friday that the remains have been identified as Cory Lee Cassidy, with the agency's investigation pointing to accidental carbon monoxide asphyxiation as the possible cause of death, noting there is no indication of foul play.
Back on Dec. 31, law enforcement responded at 6:14 p.m. to a structure fire on the 45000 block of Highway 56 Boulevard in Holden Township.
When they arrived, they found human remains in a burnt vehicle parked outside the home. The homeowners and residents had been accounted for.
It is believed the fire started in the vehicle and spread to the home, but the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
