Human remains were discovered by walkers in a wood area in Brooklyn Center last weekend.
According to Brooklyn Center Police Department, the human bones were found Saturday, Jan. 12 around 12:30 p.m. in an area near 60th Avenue North and Vincent Avenue.
There was also a wallet on the ground near the remains.
Police say identification in the wallet matched that of a missing person from Minneapolis, but they are working with the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office to properly identify the remains.
The person's cause of death has not been determined, nor has the length of time the human remains were there before being discovered.
The area the bones were found is located near Veterans Park, which is south of I-694 and west of Hwy. 100.
