Police are searching for an "armed and dangerous" man wanted in connection with an attempted murder during a home invasion last week.
The incident happened at 12:39 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, when three suspects broke into a property in Sunrise Township, Chisago County.
A 22-year-old man was shot and had to be airlifted to a Twin Cities hospital, where he is currently in a stable condition.
During the course of the investigation, two 16-year-old boys have been arrested and charged in juvenile court with aiding and abetting 1st-degree murder and aggravated robbery, though Chisago County prosecutors want them charged as adults.
A 19-year-old woman, Shaena Alberts, 19, has also been charged with aiding and abetting aggravated robbery.
But the man suspected of pulling the trigger, 18-year-old Nicholas Isaiah Antoine James, from the St. Cloud area, is still at large, with a nationwide warrant issued for him on charges including attempted 1st-degree murder.
"Anyone with information on James’ whereabouts should contact your local law enforcement. He should be considered armed and dangerous," said the Chisago County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators have determine the home invasion wasn't a random act, as the suspects and victim knew each other.
James is believed to be in the St. Cloud area, though also has ties to Chicago. Anyone with information should call 911.
